Redmine Tip – Search Shortcut

As your Redmine grows you will find yourself spending more time searching for information. Today’s tip is about the search feature and will help you save a few seconds each time you use it.

The search field in Redmine has what is called an access key. Access keys are triggered using keyboard shortcuts in your browser. So to activate the search access key, you will use the F key which will put your cursor directly into the search field… ready and waiting for your search query.

  • Google chrome – Hold down Alt and Shift, then press f
  • Firefox – Hold down Alt and Shift, then press f
  • Internet Explorer – Hold down Alt, then press f
  • Safari 4 – Hold down Control and Option, then press f

If your browser isn’t listed here, check the following access keys page for what keys to use.

Better way is to create a special search keyword so you can just write eg “t 1234” in address bar and it automatically fills out the search form.
